Did you know that the National Headquarters for snow and water content monitoring for NOAA is in our own backyard? The National Office of Hydrology Remote Sensing Center is in the NOAA facility in Chanhassen.
When the National Weather Service restructured in the 1990s, three offices housed at the old Wold Chamberlain Terminal at the International Airport, relocated to Chanhassen in 1995. Chanhassen is the home of the Forecast Office, the North Central River Forecast Center and the Remote Sensing Center.
There is an abundance of data available in graphical format from the Remote Sensing Center. You can bookmark and explore their website throughout the winter season to monitor snow depth and water equivalent.
