Rainfall of between four and five inches accumlated in portions of southeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota in the first twelve days of October. Even though these heavy amounts were quite localized, they have pushed the Red River of the north above flood stage.
The crest will be reached on Thursday in Fargo and move downstream (north) to Grand Forks the rest of the week.
