Updraft

Hurricane factory

As Gustav wanes weather eyes are looking east again into the active tropical Atlantic.

Gustav, Hanna, Ike, and possibly Josephine may all have our attention in a one week period. Though wind shear tore at Hannah overnight, it is emerging into a more favorable environment and should strengthen again in the next 48 hours as it takes the turn northward toward the Carolinas. NHC is wary that Hannah may see some rapid intensification as it passes the warm Gulf Stream current later this week. It could become a major hurricane.

It's been a nice meteorological summer, and fall is going to be one to watch along the U.S. east coast and Gulf of Mexico.
