We've been watching IKE for over a week and now the main event is about to begin. I noticed in the latest advisory from the Hurricane Center that hurricane force winds now extend out more than 100 miles from the center of Ike. Movement is toward the west northwest at 13 mph. Some strengthening remains possible before landfall.
As the hurricane moves further lnland on Saturday into Sunday it will become a tropical depression dumping a load of moisture in the nation's midsection.
In Minnesota, our rain comes from a different weather system. After Sunday noon, we will enjoy dry weather for several days.
