Hurricane Dolly came on shore in south Texas as a category two hurricane, producing winds to 100 mph and rainfall totals of greater than sixteen inches. The day following the hurricane, the story fell off the front pages quickly. Obviously the Hurricane Warning and preparedness efforts were successful. Destruction surely occurred but injuries were minimal and there was no loss of life.
