Spring lite

Posted at 7:00 AM on April 3, 2008 by Paul Huttner (0 Comments)

The Cardinal outside my window this morning sings with the promise of spring.

The air is still, but mild for 7am at 35 degrees in early April. No biting wind today.

Carl Sandburg said; "The fog comes in on little cat feet." Spring creeps in the same way in Minnesota.

A high thin veil of cirrus clouds will filter the sun a bit today. But our early April sunshine is strong enough that we should make a good run at 50 degrees. As we thread the needle between weak weather systems the next 48 hours, look for a bit more sun, and temperatures will respond accordingly.

We should see the warmest temperatures in nearly 5 months Friday and Saturday, since it was 58 back on November 13th.

A weather system will bring a chance of rain Saturday night into Sunday. It may tug just enough cold air in behind it for a little wet snow later Sunday, mainly northwest of the metro from Willmar to Alexandria and Brainerd.

Next week looks milder, and potentially rainy.

Come on cat's feet.
