Did you enjoy spring?

A vigorous weather system will swing out of eastern Kansas through Minnesota during the next 18 hours. Colder air has already invaded western Minnesota with temperatures in the 30s and winds from the northwest gusting to near 30 mph.
On the warm side of this system temperatures and dew points were in the 60s in southeast Iowa. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to drench northeast Iowa and southeast Minnesota throughout the day. It looks like the severe weather is most likely from north of St. Louis to about Rockford, Illinois.
On Wednesday we were enjoying sunshine and temperatures in the 70s across a large portion of Minnesota. Now nature is letting us know that the journey through spring includes a reality check of intrusions of chilly air.
If your travels take you to western and northwest Minnesota today and this evening be prepared for some nasty winter weather. Snow, blowing snow and raw wind chill readings will make it seem like you stepped back in time to early March.
