Posted at 9:30 AM on March 7, 2008 by Mark Seeley

Friday morning March 7th Minnesota reported the coldest temperature in the 48 contiguous states with -32 degrees F at Kelliher (Beltrami County). The coldest March 7th since 1996 brought some record setting low temperatures to northern communities. The following were new record lows for March 7th.
Orr -26 degrees F
Ely -26 degrees F
Eveleth -29 degrees F
Pine River -26 degrees F (tied 1945)
Kelliher -32 degrees F
Wadena -26 degrees F
Aitkin -25 degrees F

The arcitic high pressure system that brought this cold air registered at least 1036 mb central pressure.....pretty darn strong for March. More complete observations can be found at the web site "Anything Weather" http://www.anythingweather.com/state.aspx?id=mn
