I'm known as a frugal guy, but after looking at the latest weather charts, I'm offering to purchase a one way ticket for Old Man Winter on the Monday morning north bound train.
March will close out like a lion as a very wet weather system sloshes across the Mississippi Valley into the Great Lakes. Drenching showers in the somewhat milder air in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois are likely to produce swollen creeks and rivers.
In the cooler air that is expected to hang close to the Twin Cities, a heavy, wet snowfall is possible. The fine line between cold rain and accumulating snow may put the heaviest snowfall closer to Blaine than Burnsville.

A chilly wind, temperatures in the 30s and mixed precipitation will make for an uncomfortable setting on the plaza for Opening Day of the Twins regular season. Baseball in March; an enclosed stadium seems like a wise idea.

The March lion is ready to roar one more time.
A major winter storm (in early spring) is rapidly developing to our southwest, and heading for Minnesota on Monday. We will refine the forecast details tonight and on Morning Edition early Monday, but be prepared for the likelihood of heavy wet March snowfall most of Monday.
This storm appears potent enough to lay down a swatch of 6" to 10" of heavy wet snow from southwest Minnesota into northern Wisconsin. It is possible that the Twin Cities may be in the heavy snow band.
The good news is we are still expecting a major warm up late this week into next weekend, so most if not all of the snow should be gone a week from today.
Here are some links to follow the storms progress as you plan for Monday.
