Bad Timing

Snow developed overnight in southwest Minnesota with two inches accumulating at Redwood Falls by daybreak. Combine the fresh snowfall with winds to 25 mph and temperatures in the teens and you have quite the wintry landscape. Roads were treacherous.

During drive time in the Twin Cities metro area the snow accumulated between one to two inches. Temperatures in the middle 20s with heavy highway traffic created mainly wet roads.

This band of snow will steadily progress east this morning and some bright spots this afternoon should lead to fairly good travel conditions by the evening rush hour.

Cold air is positioned to slip into Minnesota during the next 48 hours. The coldest day will be Friday. Moderating temperatures will arrive Sunday with a shot at 40, near normal by Tuesday.
