The Americana Showcase concert for March brings together Tom Feldman, Six Mile Grove and Romantica.

Tom Feldman is the leader of the band The Get Rites. He'll do a solo set (with a guest appearnce by his wife Naomi) and talk about his life as a musician, pointing out that he started to think he could be a singer-songwriter after listening to them on public radio.

Six Mile Grove is a band that was organized in the tiny town of Lyle, Minnesota by brothers Brandon and Brian Sampson with friends Dezi Wallace and Barry Nelson. Brandon Sampson is the organizer and creative force behind the Americana Showcase series (which has just opened a front in downtown St. Paul starting tonight with a concert at the James J. Hill Reference Library, featuring Brandon, Ben Kyle, Martin Zellar and Adam Levy).

Romantica 2.jpg

Romantica is a Minneapolis-based ensemble led by Ben Kyle. Ben was born in Belfast and with his family moved to Minnesota at the tender age of 9. About the name of the group, Ben told an interviewer "We were trying not to take ourselves too seriously. I think it's somewhat descriptive of the music we make, with the nostalgic and romantic themes, but I also liked that, on first hearing, one might assume we were some sort of new-wave band. The word seemed alive, I guess. It's poetic and dynamic. And when it comes down to it, we are all romantics."

You can hear The Americana Showcase tonight at 6pm, repeated Wednesday afternoon at 1.
