In Galveston, Texas, they award Kevin Anthony a three letter honor - B.O.I.
It means Born On Island.

That's an important distinction in Galveston, and one he wears proudly, but it has never held him back. Kevin's restless spirit led him to move away to Houston to make electronic music, then to New York City to make music for television and advertising, and now Minnesota, where he found a surprisingly large community of musicians familiar with the cajun and zydeco sounds that he loves. He performs regularly with his cajun band, The Twin City Playboys, and has a new solo recording called "North Star". Kevin Anthony is my guest in hour one.
In hour two, I'll raid the library for songs about the wind. Well, why not? On these January days even a 15 mile per hour wind can turn merely cold air into a bludgeon. There is something dangerous, lonesome and transforming about a strong wind, and it blows through all the decades and genres. We'll get a sample.
If you have a favorite wind song please add it as a comment. This week's playlist is set but I'll work some of your suggestions into the Dale Connelly show next week!
Tonight's program will be repeated Sunday at noon and Monday evening at 6 on radioheartland.org and on digital radio (91.1 HD 2) in the Twin Cities.
in 1955 or 56 Gogi Grant did "Wayward Wind." love that song. i realize you may not have it in the library, Dale. thanks.
they call the wind mariah, riders of the storm
i never did like the assocoation's windy.
Blowin' in the Wind-either by Dylan or Peter, Paul and Mary-both good.
Greetings! I see the 3 of you have posted in yesterday's and today's blog already. Let the fun continue in "The Blog Meeting That Never Ends". Have a fun day and hopefully we'll catch up tonight during the show this evening.
Cat Stevens' "The Wind" is one of the best. It's on the Rushmore soundtrack and if you don't have it, Gus might.
Tim - I think your "Follow a Goat" is a great quote to live by, as long as you watch where you step.
i believe that all quotes that are words to live by should have the disclaimer " but you have got to watch where you step"
with that qualifier i would be willing to try a number of different motto's to live by just as a life experience.
blowing in the wind is the only obvious hands down choice. that one will be there catherine
i'll bet you a dollar. good call
dylan also has the line" the wind blows like a hammer the night is cold and rainy" in love minus zero no limit. one of my favorites
How about Donovan’s "Catch the Wind?"
