Neal & Leandra and WPA

Tonight on Radio Heartland on Minnesota Public Radio News stations, a Christmas potpourri and a studio session with an acoustic music "super group" on national tour.

In hour one, we'll have excerpt Neal & Leandra's holiday concert at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis. This husband-wife duo has a devoted following throughout the upper Midwest and they treat their fans to a beautiful and funny show at Christmas time each year. They'll be joined by Dan Schwartz on an amazing array of exotic guitars.

By the way, the full concert will be featured on Radio Heartland online (radioheartland.org) and on digital radio in the Twin Cities (91.1 HD2, KNOW) on Christmas Eve at 4 pm and Christmas Day at 10 am, followed in each case by concerts from The Steeles and Peter Ostroushko.
In hour two, my guests in the studio will be three excellent musicians with some well-known musical projects already on their resumes; Glen Phillips (Toad the Wet Sprocket), Sean Watkins (Nickel Creek) and Luke Bully (Lyle Lovett). Together, these three make up the core of a new group - WPA. We'll talk about how pleasant it is to work with people you respect, and the trio will play some songs from their self-titled CD.
