The Pines & Drew Nelson

Posted at 7:37 AM on October 17, 2009 by Dale Connelly (1 Comments)

Tonight on Radio Heartland, 9 to 11 pm on Minnesota Public Radio News, hour one will feature a studio session with The Pines. Starting out as an Iowa duo, Benson Ramsey and David Huckfelt have moved to the city (Minneapolis) and expanded their sound to include JT Bates on drums and bass player James Buckley. For all that additional urban commotion, The Pines sound remains open and uncluttered. Their newest recording, Tremolo, is drawing critical praise for its tasteful musicianship and understated, resonant songwriting. The Pines will be at the Cedar Cultural Center on Friday, October 23rd.

In hour two, singer-songwriter Drew Nelson will stop by. Like The Pines, Drew has rural roots. He grew up up on a Michigan farm but wanted to see the world. We'll talk about his service in the U.S. Navy, the importance of neighbors, and his determination to build two guitars every year.

Drew Nelson and The Pines, tonight on Radio Heartland!

hi, Dale and TB gang - i always forget to stay awake on saturday night (asleep by 9, usually) but i did call a friend (from Iowa now living in Duluth) to tell her to tune in for The Pines. she often tries to listen saturday nights anyway because it is on a radio station, not streamed (she doesn't have a computer at home). and she was such a fan of TMS.
happy rest of the weekend!
