Two Trios

Congratulations to the three ticket winners for Friday night's sold-out Iris DeMent concert at the Cedar Cultural Center. Teresa of Minneapolis, Susan of St. Paul and Jill from Shoreview will be attending, courtesy of Radio Heartland and the Cedar. Thanks to everyone who entered the drawing!

And congratulations to Barb of Blackhoof, on the arrival of more goats.
Here's a photo of Dream with her offspring.

Desiree Dream and bros small.jpg

Barb says two bucks and a doe were born around 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
The doe is named Desiree, or Desi for short.

Desi is pictured here, to the left.

This is "Brother #1" to the right.

Desiree brother 2 small.jpg

And this is "Brother #2".

So we have three ticket winners, and three baby goats.

If it's true that good things come in threes, we're missing a third trio. A quick internet search of threesomes in the news this morning found only embezzelers, baseball draftees and sandwiches.

Do you have a third set of three to add to the two we already have?

Congratulations Barb and DREAMIE!! Beautiful babies...and I am so glad for Dream she finally delivered.

Can't think of any threesomes of my own at the moment. Just glad for three new goats.

Barb -- fabulous news. Three??? Is that unusual? Is the different coloration of Brother #1 unusual? And how is Dream doing?

Names to round out the goat trio. The bucks have to be Dale and Mike. Weren't the triplets conceived with the musical urging of RH?

Congrats on the kids!!!

hi there - thanks for the good wishes. Desi and brother #1 are doing great - brother #2 is eerily similar to Heldig's behavior: holding back, not mixing with the rest, sleeping more. was up at 1:30 trying to get him to eat more. Desi is a little piglet - she is very energetic and so is #1. Dream is doing great - good Momma - and is much relieved to have them outta there before the weather gets much warmer.
Sherrilee, Desi and Brother Two have unusual color for our little herd. that must be Majority - one never knows how alpines turn out. that's one thing that attracted me to them - the variety of colors, patterns (although in competition that makes not a wit of difference - but i don't show my goats, so who cares? :-)
gotta go
good morning All and Dale, thanks so much. i can't really think very well at all this morning, so i'll leave the third trio to brighter minds......

A little googling landed me on a story about a Detroit triplet who recently gave birth to her own set of triplets!

I wish the weekend days came regularly bundled in sets of three!

I guess it is a happy day for the two trios. And I guess Radio Heartland is the only place where a gospel song, Happy Day, would be followed by a cowboy song, Happy Trails and that works for me.

P.S. (Do you have some Andrew Sisters to play in celebration of trios?)

Love the new kids. Sometimes I wish my new one could walk right away like them, but until then, I'll hold him and dance to Radio Heartland.

As the search for trios continues how about the song about the biblical trio of Shach, Meshach, and Abendigo (spelled wrong I'm sure) in the fiery furnace?

Congratulations to Barb and Dream! Great looking kids.

As for trios - all I can come up with at this hour is our intrepid RH trio: Dale, Mike and Jasper. They give me lovely music in fabulous combination all day long. (Thanks guys!)

AWWWWW those little goatlets are SO CUTE!! Congratulations Barb and Dream and Majority.

I can think of a couple musical trios, in this early morning rush - The Roches, and the McCoy Tyner trio. Gotta get on the road, but will try to think of a third.

Oh, how about Crosby, Stills and Nash?

Well, I think I have to offer the Orange Mighty Trio as the third trio to complete the trio of trios. They will follow Iris Demet's at the Cedar with their CD release there on saturday night and they were heard on this show on Tuesday in an interview.

Of course they are a big favorite of mine in part due to the fact that this group is lead by my son-in-law Zack Kline and because of the outstanding original string band inspired music they play.

Oh they are just precious! Congratulations!

Dale, have you played 'My Blue Heaven' yet? Isn't there a line about a baby making three in that one? I'm partial to the Gene Austin version myself. But he does sound a lot like the Inkspots, whom you just played... I'll leave it up to you :)

Peter, Paul and Mary are another great trio :) Congrats to Momma Dream!! Now she gets to keep up with some rambunctious kids ;) I'm going to miss my daily fix of RH while I'm on vacation.

I so rarely post before the original broadcast (is it still called a "broadcast?") is over. How about the Kingston Trio or, from the movie "A Mighty Wind", the Folksmen?

My original comment got trapped in waiting because I had included a link. I found a news bit about a triplet who just had her own triplets!

Oh, Barb, I'm so glad for you and Dream (and the baby goats!).

Dale, there are some lovely renditions of Wynken, Blynken, Nod, -- maybe there's a trio doing that!but I can't remember who. Or something by Earth Wind and Fire or the 3 Tenors...

p.s. Anyone on here going to Iris Dement tomorrow night?

Posted by Barbara in Robbinsdale | June 11, 2009 8:35 AM

Ah, I just remembered the Ramsey Lewis Trio. (Was nagging at me -- now I can get on with my day.)

Mary -- I have fond memories of dancing around with my baby like that... have somebody take a picture so you can prove it to him/her some day. :)

Just finished listening to the archived 2nd hour of today's program, to hear Crosby, Stills & Nash singing "Just a Song Before I Go". Funny how they sang "Traveling at the speed of sound", because I definitely was speeding to work this morning. No tickets, though I passed two cops. Guess the Wisconsin State Patrol needs money to balance the budget - the end of the state government fiscal year is June 30. And that's what I'm working on too, the end of the fiscal year for my university.

I love those harmonies of CSN - I'd like to hear more of them sometime on RH! Thanks!

Ooh, thanks, Dale, for Shadrack -- catching it on the repeat... Also for the MTA earlier (or later, depending). :)
