The weekend edition of Radio Heartland is on the air tonight on the stations of Minnesota Public Radio News from 9 to 11 p.m.

In hour one, Father's Day weekend leads to an extended sequence of musical family medleys, featuring various Wainwrights, a couple of Watsons, two Earles and a cluster of Guthries. Alas, we are only scratching the surface.

In hour two, the real-life sisters Christina Baldwin and Jennifer Baldwin-Peden are at the center of a production from Nautilus Music Theater called "Sister Stories". Four sets of composers and librettists were commissioned to write short works for these amazingly talented siblings, and now the results are on display at the Playwright's Center in Minneapolis through June 28th. We'll hear excerpts and talk with Jennifer, Christina, Nautilus artistic director Ben Krywosz and music director Tom Linker.

That's tonight, on Radio Heartland.

Dale, thanks for yesterdays show (internet connection was down again part of yesterday :| -- it was just a rich selection of music that made me laugh and cry...

Sherilee -- you've reminded me about radish butter, and now I must find the recipe in my book. Let me know if you're interested in a Traditional Foods Warehouse in Richfield.

Well of course the new setup for MPR's weboage is an insult to Radio Heartland in that there is only a very small choice to click on that is easily missed. Nothing new there. Why push something great and intrinsictly Minnesota-centric when you can push the cold and generic CURRENT? Makes sense to MPR, if nobody else.
Also I am wondering why Dale has decided to finish each hour of his show with the phrase "We'll finish up with..." The show's not finished at 7 and 8am! Why confuse the issue by saying that when you could say "we'll finish THIS HOUR with..."? He started this after Radio Heartland got underway. I don't think he ever expressed himself that way on The Morning Show. I suppose there's a reason for it because it's a little too boneheaded to say something like that for NO reason.
