Poppapalooza!

Happy Father's Day!

Quite by accident, Radio Heartland spiraled into an extended father-song cycle last Friday morning, thanks to enthusiastic listeners who sent in suggestions for songs that deal, in one way or another, with Dear Old Dad.

I was surprised to discover how easy it was to fill three hours.

To add to the fun, there was a lyric scavenger hunt, which Linda in St. Paul (West Side) won hands down, by correctly identifying the source of each of these inside-the-song quotes. Congratulations, Linda!

This afternoon, for your listening pleasure and just because we could, Radio Heartland presents a re-broadcast of that Friday morning show. There are some funny tunes, here, and some lovely ones as well. Singer-songwriters seem to be quite eager to write beautiful, loving songs about how unable they are to say beautiful, loving things to their dads, and vice-versa.
