Radio Heartland is underway and in my personal opinion, it sounds great! But then Mike Pengra and I picked all the music so naturally we're inclined to like it. I am a bit embarrassed that everything connected with the effort seems so Dale Connelly-centric. Who does this guy think he is?
Quite a few behind-the-scenes people at MPR gave up lots of precious time to make Radio Heartland happen. They were already working on other important projects but managed to make room for this quite sudden addition to the MPR universe.
If you have access to Adobe Acrobat Reader you can see the list here.
Remember these names. They belong to heroes.
Thanks also to listeners Jane and Tim and Rynda, who were keen enough to notice that we skipped a visit with Bart the Bear during the final broadcast. We were moving into the last segment of the show and I knew something had to be jettisoned if we were going to come in on time (a broadcaster's proudest moment - hitting the mark!). Poor Bart was tossed overboard much to the dismay of our producer, Mike Pengra, who loves Bart like a brother. In fact, they may be related, though Bart is sure to have more meat on his bones at this time of year. If you have access to Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can read the missing script.
We also tossed aside an early bit from Spende-Popper to make room for a lovely recorded tribute from Garrison Keillor. It was not a tough decision.
I appreciate all those who have said the first installment of my Radio Heartland show was reassuring. I admit it was eerie without Jim Ed in the studio. I turned on two microphones instead of one a couple of times, a longstanding habit. I also left a few conversational gaps - openings just the right size for a lightning quick Jim Ed-style amplifying comment, but nothing came. Sigh.
An excellent beginning. Just tuned in and am VERY pleased with the quality of the sound and the excellent (do we expect anything less) play list. Piping it through my whole house!
So good to still hear your voice, Dale!
Dale....
The show is great!
As I long time Morning Show devoutee I wept along with most of Minnesota as the show signed off yesterday.
Then as soon as I sat down at my computer this moring I logged into Radio Heatland. The name fits!
My heart was happy again!
If you see Santa....tell him I changed my mind....I want a HD radio for Christmas!
Thanks so much for keeping the music alive.....
I just ordered two HD radios (the Sony model your link recommended; took me right to Amazon.)
I've been listening online all day today. Love everything about it.
Will make a contribution in addition to usual MPR donation. Is there a quick link to donate to Heartland? I think there should be.
First of all, GREAT SHOW yesterday at the Fitz. One of the best live shows I've ever attended anywhere. Thank you Dale and Jim Ed for all your great work over the decades.
Excellent start with Radio Heartland, Dale. You've asked for suggestions and I've got one.
One of the features of the Morning Show I really liked was when you had a guest fill in for you or Jim Ed while you were on vacation. It was a nice change of pace and we got to know the guests (usually a local musician or other performer) and a little about their tastes in music. I'd like to suggest continuing that tradition here but a bit differently. Have the guest come in to join you, not fill in for you, for the morning. Structure it like you did on the Morning Show. Some of their musical choices and some casual conversation.
Here's the twist: I've often thought it might be interesting to have some common, everyday listeners be your guest from time to time. You could screen them a bit to make sure they are literate- and coherent at 6 am- and can carry on a conversation with you to at least a minimal degree. Have them select 5-10 songs they'd like us to hear during the show and explain how they became fans of those particular artists. To insure that a chosen guest doesn't clam up on the air, you might even consider taping the discussions about their music choices before hand and edit it if necessary.
You've often said you have the greatest radio audience in the world and this would be a great way to prove it. The hidden benefit is that we might hear some undiscovered talent who might become the next Greg Brown, Connie Evingson or Peter Mayer. I'm pretty confident there are hundreds of articulate music lovers who would love to come on the show for an hour or two and live their fantasy of being on the other side of the mic.
Of course, I'd be more than happy to volunteer myself as the first guinea pig, should you decide this idea has merit. (hint, hint!) I have three of the prerequisites a guest will need to succeed with you: A face for radio, wide ranging muscial tastes, and the ability to talk endlessly about anything I am passionate about. I'm not wild about the 6 am thing, but hey, I got up at 3:45 yesterday to come to the final show, and it wasn't that bad!
Good luck with the new show, Dale. I'll be listening daily.
Listening at work now (via internet). Nice mix. Listened to pretty much the whole last show yesterday at home and driving into work. This is a great option for listening during the day at work, what a great idea! Glad you were able to find a way to keep Dale Connelly-centric programming available.
How things have changed since 1983! I moved to MN that year from WI and to the Twin Cities in 1985. The couple who moved in next to me turned me on to the morning show and I've listened on and off ever since. Cool to hear requests coming in from all over over the last few years of the morning show.
Currently, "radio heartland" is hit #3 on Google. Hit #1 is Heartland FM 97.5 The Voice of Highland Perthshire. I'm sure that'll switch around in the next few days / weeks ;)).
I am enjoying the wide variety of interesting music you have programmed. Good job!
Thank you for doing this. I'm here in Sioux Falls, and I can listen on my computer. It's great.
Dear Dale, I listened this morning to your new show. It was wonderful, and it's such a comfort knowing you'll be there every morning to send us out, fortified, into the day. Thank you for keeping the "family" together and for keeping the music alive.
Well, I woke up to what I've termed "Black Friday" - December 12. I live in rural MN, where HD radio has yet to deliver Radio Heartland and most home-based internet connections are dial-up, so live-streaming music is pretty patchy. I couldn't help thinking about how much laughter and darn good music I have enjoyed on my 30 mile commute to work. Luckily at work we have high-speed access - I've never been so over-joyed to arrive at work! Right away, I tuned in to Dale's voice and his high quality musical choices. All was set right in my world again - my spirits were lifted, my mind at ease. I could greet my students with a bounce in my step! I'll do everything I can to support Radio Heartland - thanks for still being there Dale and Mike.
PS. One positive over the last week is realizing how many people have shared the same morning tradition over the years. There is an amazing group of listeners out there who reject the mainstream crud and instead thrive off of hearing the Sons of the Pioneers. Rock on Dale - I'm listening and the new show is wonderful!
Like many, many other people, I too thought the last show was very special. I'm particularly glad that you managed one last Sherpa commercial, they have long been my favorite bits. At one time, I toyed with the idea of suggesting a "best of Sherpa" CD, but that went by the wayside, as do many of my good ideas.
I mentioned a few months ago that I hadn't heard about the Sherpa in quite awhile, and since then I've been laughing out loud in my car again. I think they speak to my funnybone because I live in St. Paul where many of neighbors don't even have cars and work in a suburb that I have named "SUV-land". For an old hippe chick like me, working here is always somewhat bizarre.
I'm really loving Radio Heartland today, although I can't listen until I get to work. But that's okay, maybe HD radios will be within my grasp someday. I also think there should be a quick link to donate directly to this new experience.
I've been a MPR member since 1976. Prairie Home Companion brought me in (we made it to the second show, got a flat tire on the way to the first), but it's always been the music that has kept me here.
I was living in Mankato in the beginning, and you couldn't get the signal everywhere in town back then , since Mankato really is Deep Valley, Minnesota. Now back here in St. Paul, I hardly ever have any other station on any of my radios, except maybe WCCO during the winter for the school closings. Many of my friends think I'm very strange for relishing my addiction to the Morning Show but you helped a true "night person" to get up and get to work on time for a long, long time. I can never thank you enough for that.
It will be a pleasure to continue to hear your voice in the morning, and the music will carry me through the day. Thanks so much!!
Thanks so much for the update on Bart the Bear. I will miss him very much and hope he has many happy years of wandering through the north woods with his cell phone.
I've fallen in love with Radio Heartland and was so caught up with the noon-hour rebroadcast of the Dale Connolly Show here at work that I totally forgot to go home and let the dog out.
Congrats on a fantastic first day! You continue to warm my heart and lift my spirits.
Tell you what, Dale, not only am I grateful for Radio Heartland, I am also grateful for this blog. As a fellow writer, I must say your way with words is awe-inspiring and I can only hope to reach a fraction of that level one day. Write on!
Thanks Dale for doing exactly what you are doing.
Radio Heartland is the station I always wished existed.
I will miss the Morning Show to be sure but RH is a healing balm to the soul. We recently moved away from the Twin Cities and along with our kids that still live there, MPR is our life link to HOME. Thanks for the live stream thru our computer straight to our hearts.
p.s. You folks might want to know that on the MPR digital radio page, the descriptions of the two recommended radios are followed by horrible customer reviews. Gave me pause.
I have been listening all day and I am lovin'it!
Whew! You're still there. A little panic and slinky feeling in my gut this morning as I adjusted to the new format, but I was able to listen online as I got ready for work as usual. Already more songs from today's playlist to add to my iPod. Bummer that we had to part during the AM commute.
Add my "yea" to those voting for a CD from the final show.
Borrowing words from Melissa Manchester, "I think we can make it, if we try."
I am new to Minnesota and just had time to discover and fall in love with the Morning Show before it went away! Sadness. Like many others, I will try to switch to internet listening, while I wait until an HD radio fits into my budget. Thanks, Dale, for not disappearing entirely.
I listened this morning and for a couple of hours in the afternoon over the internet stream. It was a treat to hear yesterday's original songs replayed, and to be able to hear this music in the afternoon.
Thanks for posting the spots that didn't make it to the air, and the placemat from yesterday's breakfast!
I hope the tech crew is working on an update for the MPR iPhone app, so that I can listen to the Heartland stream the way I can to the other MPR channels.
I'd like to second the guest co-host idea. Those shows were interesting. Not every one was a success, but we got some variety, an important consideration when you're running 24/7. There's an old saying: if you throw enough -- stuff -- at the wall, some of it will stick.
In fact. I would recommend guest and volunteer DJs for times other than the morning drive show. Since we're dealing with first-timers, you might want to prerecord and edit, but it should be fun.
This station rocks! It was what the "Current" started out as before it went all hipster. As a new parent - I am, sadly, no longer a hipster. Keep up the good work!
I turned on Radio Heartland while studying for finals today and found it to be very soothing brain music, most of the time. The next time I looked up, I had been listening for two hours!
Kris, I too listen often through the iPhone app. I inquired about this... apparently a change is in the works, but is being held up somewhere on Apple's end of the process, because they're slow, or something like that.
Yes, reassuring - that's a good word. I carried my laptop all around the house this morning like a security blanket. Gotta get an HD radio...
So I guess Greg Brown was right yesterday in his last song--it looks like things are getting better and better than they've already been! I am going to miss Jim Ed and Dale's morning chatter, but to hear this selection of music coming from my computer today felt like I was dreaming (I could never get enough of The Morning Show). Who would have thought such a program possible in our age? So after feeling heartbroken the last few weeks anticipating the end of the show, I am now filled with gratitude and anticipation. Thanks, Dale.
We got old-retired and just slept too late to listen to The Morning Show live, but thoroughly loved the last show Thursday. I was intrigued enough to listen to Radio Heartland and had it streaming all day today. I'll admit, you got me hooked. We went out tonight and got a great deal on a Polk HDX3 radio. While I'm listening to Heartland on the PC, my wife is tuned to Wonderland at Night. MPR has again proved that Sustaining Membership is the best deal in town!
Been listening the last couple of hours. Love the mix. I have something now besides classical and alternative stations. I also now have a reason to buy a HD radio (though I am not totally in support of the technology). I was hoping a bit more universal acceptance of the technology but Amazon sells a fairly reasonable one.
We agree, the new show is off to a good start. It is sad not to hear it in our bedroom, car and living room...can't afford new radios for everyplace we want to listen...will probably buy one HD for our living room. I (Wendy) listened at work today on my computer and really enjoyed that. Hearing Dale's voice again was very welcome and reasuring as was the choices of music.
However, we have been confused, frustrated and even angered by the decision to not take Tom up on his offer to work part-time. He mentioned on Gary Eichten's show that he actually had changed his mind about retiring and wanted to work part-time! And then, on the final show, he offered his phone number when Kling was on, as if to say to him, "Well, you can call me and I will come.." and no one responded! Why not? It should be pretty obvious to everyone at the station how the listeners of the former Morning Show feel. Why not be more responsive to us?
If Jim Ed still wants to do the characters Dale creates, or co-host a couple times per week, God almighty, do that!!! Part-time is way better than never hearing from him again! The guy is a genius at comedy and the two of you together are a gift for your listeners.
Please, reconsider Tom's offer! It will make the new show even better!
Have been overdosing (Is that possible?) on RH now into Day 2. Nice to have it available to soothe the soul 24x7. Thanks to you, Dale, and everyone at MPR who gave so much effort to make this happen. Will miss Jim Ed and the skits, certainly, but turning this new page in life has, so far, been a gentle one. We look forward to a day, hopefully soon, when RH reaches Greater Minnesota via HD signal. Then we can really OD on it.
Dale, We're not sure we noticed the conversational gaps while you waited for Jim Ed, but we certainly commented to each other when late in the show you incorportated a comment that was so very JimEd-like you must have been channeling him! It made us miss him even more.
The beauty of you two together was your relationship based on intelligence and humor, something that I'm sure MPR strives for. Like Wendy and Yanchy we cannot fathom why MPR wouldn't have Jim Ed occassionally on the air with you.... and with us, the member listeners!
We also must add we loved your first show, and thought you did a fabulous job with Ann Reed as a guest. You seem to bring the best out of people.
We feel very good that you are in charge of forming what this new broadcast channel will sound like. That fact makes us very hopeful, and we are excited to share the journey with you.
Hello! Well the computer speakers are cranked - best Saturday morning music ever! Its hard to get the cleaning and laundry done when I'm dancing around the house. Listen, I've added several items to my amazon shopping cart this am already. Does MPR track those purchases so they know it's YOUR playlist we are slowly buying?
My wife and I were at the Thursday show--what a wonderful way to go out! Beautiful hosts, guests & music. The Morning Show is greatly missed and will continue to be for a long while...
Radio Heartland is off to a fabulous start!! I've been listening this morning and love it.
The suggestions for local musicians and listeners as co-hosts sounds good to me. One of the best things about the Morning Show and Radio Heartland is discovery of new (to me) music and new (to me) artists.
Keep up the great work!
I see that Chris has the same idea I had - sorta. I loved the show on Friday. But you sound a little lonely. I thought we could all sign up for one day and come in to keep you company. Judging by the attendance at the Last Show, any one individual wouldn't have to come in more than once every few thousand days. We could do that. Give me a call if you want me to take a day. I'll bring doughnuts.
The 24/7 music is a TREAT!!!
I'll pay up after Christmas, OK?
Have the music cranked up on my laptop today and am absolutely loving what I'm hearing. Today I'm noticing that I'm missing the human element -- a host/voice to guide us through the music (in addition to the great Dale C show). Wondering if that's in your plans once Radio Heartland is up and running.
The mix of music is fantastic... more like what I'd naively assumed the Current would be like -- closer to truly eclectic.
But... having music play without a DJ seems kind of spooky, as if its being programmed from the afterlife or something.
But Dale, we know it's not your fault and we're lucky we still have you at all!
Glad to see Bruce Cockburn, Sam Phillips, and Alejandro Escovedo are on the playlist. Hoping to hear Over the Rhine some day!
Love, love, love the new Radio Heartland playlist!
I tuned in for a sneak listen on Thursday evening, discovered it was already live, and have had it streaming ever since.
You and Mike have done a terrific job of extrapolating the "Morning Show" vibe to this new venture. Many a morning I was saddened when 9 a.m. came too soon because I would be wishing I could hear more -- and now I'm so delighted that I can.
A friend and I were among the hundreds in the overflow crowd at the church on Thursday, where, due to some glitch, we had no video for the first hour. So I second the requests for a DVD of the complete performance.
Looking forward to many happy hours listening at my computer. And also looking forward to the HD radio that I hope, hope, hope will be in my Christmas stocking.
Radio Heartland is, to mangle an expression, a sound for sore ears.
My wife and I are old camp friends of Jim Ed and have woken up to the Morning Show since it began. I didn't know how we would survive without the show until I looked at the playlist for Radio Heartland. I was amazed to see Herman Grimme (Salad Days) featured. Herman was my best friend 35 years ago when I lived in Emmen, the Netherlands. We played in the High School band and a gospel group together. We also were on the Emmen waterpolo club - The 'Kikker' (the Frog). Salad Days is a great album and brings back many fond memories.
I'm sure I'll be a Radio Heartland regular!
MPR has made a big mistake, from my point of view!
I enjoy Radio Heartland when I can be near a computer, but I deeply mourn the passing of the Morning Show, perhaps now the "Mourning Show", especially for those of us living outside the Twin Cities metro.
From a marketing standpoint, dropping the MS seems exclusionary, elitist and misguided. RH is not really available on the MPR some of us know and have financially supported, since HD radio is not available outside the TC. Thus, the "outstate" subscribers have lost radio access to this eclectic music. Kind of detracts from the R of MPr for me.
True, the music is streamed far and wide via the internet, but this really speaks more for a national or international audience, taking the M out of mPr.
Internet listening obviously requires internet access and connection via computer or handheld device. This translates into expense for the listeners. I am fortunate to be able to afford this, but it seems again elitist and exclusionary to assume everyone can afford such technology, especially given today's economy. For the TC listeners, radio access to the music, for example in a car, requires purchase and installation of HD radio. Again, this assumes people can pay for this. This attitude dims the P (for public) part of mpr.
In addition, I will miss the “human element” with the friendly banter of Dale and Jim Ed. Without that, it is eclectic muzak for me.
Certainly, there are other worthwhile programs on "mpr" but dropping the MS has removed a morning "brightener" for myself and other subscribers. Peter Ostroushko hit the nail on the head with "don't take my sunshine away" on the final show! It remains to be seen how cloudy and grey I feel when asked to renew my membership, if anybody cares!
Dale,
Thursday's show was a wonderful valedictory. My favorite moment was seeing you on the sidewalk just after 5 AM obviously overwhelmed by the crowd. Your grace from then through the morning was amazing.
Thank you for all you are doing to assure that the Morning Show community of listeners lives on.
I feel a little petty complaining but....I am a little worried the the selections that migrated to RH reflect a little too much of The Morning Show on the Current and noy enuff of The Morning Show Classic. I am not asking for Little Potato 24/7 but I had hoped for more whimsy, More Trout Fishing in America, more show tunes, more Christine Lavin, more Lou & Peter Berryman. As a listener I have trusted you over the years and I know you have a clear vision so I will keep listening.
Once last request-Can we have Christmas music especially Bill Crofut?
Thanks for everything,
Beth-Ann
My husband Chuck and I were among the kind-of unlucky souls who ended up at the church on Thursday morning. Who would have dreamed the Fitz would be filled up by 6:00. -- but it was wonderful to spend the morning with so many like-minded people. I always thought I was one of the few who knew the secret of the morning show -- Obviously there were a few more of us out there that I don't run into every day. It was so sad to wake up Friday morning and not have the Morning Show for company. However, I just turned on Radio Heartland -- and I MUST find a way to pipe the computer into the bathroom. I've been listening for 45 minutes and every single selection has been one I would have chosen myself.
I look forward to listening all day, every day on my computer at work. I'll miss Jim Ed in the morning, but I suppose we all have the right to retire eventually -- especially after 30+ years of getting up in the middle of the night to entertain the rest of us.
The new service is wonderful -- especially the playlist that is updated as the tracks are playing. I have a feeling the size of my CD collection will continue to outgrow its space. Thanks again for staying with it, Dale. I don't think we could find this blend of music anywhere else in the world. Now we'll be able to get it anywhere we go.
I have to echo Nancy's post. The selection is tremendous. I've emailed siblings who didn't have access to the Morning Show to recommend they get on the Heartland site and solve their listening dilemmas! I'm sure we wouldn't get this eclectic playlist anywhere else. Thank you, thank you.
I have been listening to RH for 3 days, and enjoying it tremendously. But, I've slowly realized that I haven't been aware of international sound -- Celtic, throat singing, panpipes from Latin America, East European women's voices... I don't think it's just my imagination and when I listen closely I notice Dale's tag line includes the word "Americana," and the name of the station is Radio Heartland. It would be very sad to loose the other portion of the MS playlist, and I'm hoping you just haven't had a chance to load that part of your library yet.
So, to summarize, kudos on what you've been able to do, especially while also trying to wrap up the MS in style; please continue to broaden out to the sounds (all of them) that we love to hear.
Many thanks Dale and everyone at radio heartland.
I love the musical picks. I'm still gonna miss Jim Ed and the morning show though.
Learning my way around Radio Heartland via the computer. Very, very nice tunes!
A suggestion: how about some holiday music? I know that the Late Great Morning Show (referred to as LGMS from here on out) had many wonderful songs for this season of the year, so is it possible to work a few of them in for the next couple weeks? Does this seemingly simple (to me) suggestion mean hours of extra work for the radio professionals at Radio Heartland?? Hope not.
Watching the freezing rain turn to snow. Reminds me that when we lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where we first started listening to the LGMS, we experienced a winter of 400 inches of snow. Yes, 400 inches. It think it was 1983-1984. That year the snowplow came by at regular, predictable intervals. So predictable in fact that I didn't have to set my radio alarm in the morning because the rumble of the snowplow going down our street at 6am did the trick. Must say I much prefer waking up to great music than to the crunch, rattle and whoosh of a snowplow!
This is the programming that the Current should have been. Now we're ready to make a pledge again. The music is great!
One suggestion would be to play some of the live concerts recorded by KSJN back in the mid70's.I think they were hosted by George Fisher. A few that I remember were Steve Goodman; John Prine; Doc Watson; Bogan, Martin and Armstrong.
Another idea would be to broadcast the World Cafe at some time during the day.
Thanks for the programming, Dale
I would love to be a 'mouse in the corner' when Dale and Mike get together to plan for the future of Radio Heartland. The creativity will be spilling out of the windows! Thanks to both of you for giving us hope for the future. You are off to a great start.
I have not yet been able to tune in to the Classical MPR station where I used to wake up to The Morning Show. I think I am holding them responsible, somehow. Part of my grief process, I suppose.
Oh, I hope you produce a DVD of the final show! I'm 150 miles west of Minneapolis-St Paul and it just wasn't feasible for me to come to the final show at the Fitz. Even if I had, I'd still want a DVD of the event. Please, I'll be so happy to buy said DVD and play it and play it and play it.
My husband and I have been listening all weekend. We are thrilled...the music brought back many memories for us...we felt like dancing....
We are loving the new programming.
Thanks for your efforts!
Sue
I'm cranked to see Dale have a means to carry on - I'll do whatever I can to help float the boat. You're doing great Dale - take it where it leads you, and don't ask permission!
I agree on the listener-guest, it would be a blast. Kind of like having Gus on! Dale is such a pro that I think he can save anyone who totally freezes. I think it would be a blast to bring in 5-10 songs that I would like to share with the crowd, and see what happens.
I'll donate soon - I'm going to call it in to make sure it sticks to Radio Heartland/Dale. I'm not feeling like sending anything additional in the direction of MPR-corporate quite yet.
Sounds great!! I thought this is what the current was going to be. Throw in some local and currently producing Americana and I'll be hooked indefinitely.
Dude!
Totally awesome! I'll add a link on my web site to RADIO HEARTLAND and be on the lookout for music that will fit into the programming.
Didn't tune in Friday. The emotions were too raw, plus I took the day off and was away from a computer, so it was impossible to listen. But now that it is Monday, as soon as my computer was up and running, hopped on and got the music going. What I've heard so far is very comforting and very reassuring that I haven't lost the delightful musical portion of the Morning Show. And now I can tune in any time of day I want and there will be the beautifully eclectic, thought provoking, entertaining music I need in my life!
I also wanted to thank you for the wonderful last show on Thursday. I was warm and cozy in the church, surrounded by hundreds of near and dear strangers. I had to give one lady a hug - she looked like she really needed it! My mother and I were there together, and her mother was there in spirit (literally), I know - she loved the morning show! I am going to survive this withdrawal period, and get used to NOT having you on my car radio on the way to work. Oh, and if you get a chance, please punch Peter Ostrushko - the "You Are My Sunshine" is when I completely lost it (as did many of the people in the church) - by the way, we were singing along quietly!
Keep up the terrific work and keep fighting the good fight.
I also look forward to seeing a new app show up on the Apple App store that adds the stream. In the mean time I had to hack the current one so I could roam around the house and still listen. (possible only if you have jailbroken your iPhone/iPod, not something I'd recommend to most people).
I grew up listening to music like this with my father and almost every morning I would listen to the morning show and think of him. I know many of us are sad about letting the morning show go, but the truth is Radio Heartland is already changing my musical experience.
On Friday I listened to "Never Drive You Away", purchased it on I-tunes, reserved a copy of the entire CD at my local library, and replayed the song for my high school students.
I suppose its time to make a financial donation...
Thanks Dale!

I enjoyed the Morning Show for many years. I could tell the time by the bits on the program. Now sadly, I can no longer listen in my car during my morning commute. Plus I can't justify an HD radio at this time so I have to find a new morning program to help me get ready for work. True, I can listen at work over the internet but with my job I don't catch much of it. So long - and best wishes.
I have a suggestion, I recently downloaded the MPR IPOD/IPhone application and it's slick for accessing The Current, News or Classical programming for streaming.
I think you should add Radio Heartland to the MPR application, otherwise you cannot get streaming audio through your Iphone (I tried), the Safari browser on the Iphone does not support either MP3 or Windows media player streaming, at least I couldn't get it to work. This is a must-do.
I am already missing the morning show, I have listened to it the best part of 10 years, and I can't listen in the car or at my bedside table where I woke to it every day. I can't see buying two HD radios only for this purpose, one for my car and one for my home. I can play it on my computer and I will and have, but I miss the feeling of community every morning. I will definitely give the Radio Heartland a try on the internet, there's still a place for it, just a bit of a different place, there is still a lot of the good part of the morning show, it's just a little harder and limited to access.
Like many others, I'm lost without the Morning Show on my drive to work from Kasson to Rochester. While at work I attempt to listen to Radio Heartland on-line, but the stream is inconsistant and I lose my connection. I enjoy the programming immensely and intend to stick it out as best I can.
Thank you.
