M.I.A. Filmmakers

There's a lot of talented filmmaker who seem to have dropped off the map. I was just looking at the list of movies that will be playing Sundance this year and thought, "What happened to Peter Sollett?" He had an astonishingly smart and sweet feature, "Raising Victor Vargas," debut at the fest. That ignoramus Ed Burns (maker of one of the worst Sundance buzz movies of all time, The Brothers McMullan) has two, TWO upcoming features. Where's Sollett?
Others who are M.I.A.: Harmony Korine, Whit Stillman, Tom Noonan, Victor Nunez, Theodore Witcher and Eric Mendelsohn. (I know no one but me misses Harmony...)
Good news about an M.I.A. favorite: Steve Kloves hadn't directed a film since 1993's super creepy Flesh and Bone (see Gwyneth in a powerful, early role. Where did that actress disappear to? You become macrobiotic and all your intensity dissolves from the wheat germ?) Now, after years (and a lot of money) serving the Harry Potter machine as a screenwriter, he has a feature coming out: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Welcome back, Steve. I missed you.
Now someone give Peter Sollett some money for another movie.

Just to make it easier to find when it comes out, Steve Kloves is directed "The Curious Incident of the Dog in Night-Time"
I would be mightily interested in seeing the Curious Incident of the God in the Night...which may just be the sequel to The Passion of the Christ.

I concur on your opinion on Flesh and Bone. I was very surprised to see "Sally Albright" in such a very different role than I was used to see Meg Ryan in.

Harmony Korine just finished editing his new film "Mister Lonely" and will probably be included in next years Cannes line up.
