A bum lead

Posted at 4:09 PM on September 15, 2006 by Stephanie Curtis

So...I recommend going to the Found Footage Fest, only to find out that it is sold out. How about this then: a film by one of the world's masters? Three Times, the latest film by Hou Hsiao-Hsien is finally playing here (it was at Cannes in Spring 2005.) The Walker will be screening it tonight through Sunday. It's the story of three different pairs of lovers, played by the same actors, in three different times.

What you can't expect: a traditional narrative.

What you can expect: beautifully composed scenes infused with emotion.

I watched it on a terrible VHS dub; I can't imagine how beautiful it will be on the Walker's big screen.
