Vacation

I'm heading out for vacation. It's the dregs of summer moviegoing but the whole marketing machine that it "Snakes on a Plane" will come to an end on Friday. Samuel L. Jackson has called me twice to remind me to go. You can get the same treatment.

So, I'm going to San Francisco. I'll be speeding like "Bullitt" over the hills. I'll be walking next to redwoods like Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart in "Vertigo." (Although I don't plan to plunge to my death from a tower.) And hopefully, I won't have any flashbacks to Cameron Diaz's icky "The Sweetest Thing" or Penelope Cruz's lame "Woman on Top."

Hey, I liked Woman on Top! I thought it had an effervescent charm.
IMO some discounted Penelope b/c of her relationship w/ Tom Cruise (tho I don't suggest that's why you "got it wrong.") Perhaps a "flashback" would give "Woman on Top" the second chance it deserves.
I admit most folks agree with you that "Woman on Top" was not a great moment for either women directors or Ms. Cruz.

If you'll be "speeding like 'Bullitt' over the hills," I hope you take a camera. It would be one of the greatest visits in the history of SF! Certainly more THRILLING than any Valley Fair ride & possibly as safe.
