Wanna see a preview of World Trade Center?
Posted at 1:08 PM on July 26, 2006 by Stephanie Curtis (2 Comments)
I'm going to be hosting a preview of Oliver Stone's new movie "World Trade Center" next Thursday. You can get free tickets by e-mailing your name and number to mpr_wtc@yahoo.com.
When: 7:00 on Thursday August 3
Where: Crown Block E Theaters
RSVP: Send your name and number to mpr_wtc@yahoo.com
Clarification: MPR isn't sponsoring this...I'm just hosting it. So that's not an mpr email address...it'll be answered by the lovely company that is setting up the preview. My poor web producer is worried you'll try to contact MPR. USE THE EMAIL ADDRESS ABOVE TO RSVP! Don't call MPR to get tickets.
Got that? "World Trade Center" has been called controversial by people worrying their hands over whether it is too soon to make a movie about September 11. Cal Thomas (I didn't know he reviewed movies) raves that it's up there with “Victory at Sea,” “Yankee Doodle Dandy” and “Sands of Iwo Jima” as one of the great patriotic movies of all time. I can't say that Cal and I have much in common, but the film should be interesting.
"United 93" is one of my favorite movies of the year...we'll see if Oliver's movie can join that list.

Thanks for the tip! I had to give away six "Little Miss Sunshine" passes at Landmark Edina on account of travel plans. Grrr. I'm really looking forward to it.
Speaking of Edina, seen Who Killed the Electric Car, yet? One of the best docs I've seen in a while. My preteens enjoyed it even.

I agree with Cal Thomas about one out of every 15 columns, but he's always entertaining. I have seen WTC and it's a very well done and restrained film, albeit in a more conventional movie vein than UNITED 93.
