Wanna see a free movie?

Posted at 4:29 PM on June 27, 2005 by Stephanie Curtis (6 Comments)

Hey folks...we have a few passes here at MPR for a free screening of "Apres Vous." Warning: it's in French. Those who loathe subtitles should stay away.

For those who don't fear subtitling, here's a little more info about the movie. It's billed in its press packet as a romantic comedy "that begs the question: Can it actually be bad to be a good samaritan?" The leading man is Daniel Auteuil, the French film star you may have seen in "Jean de Florette" (I am too lazy to check the spelling of that) many moons ago or "The Closet" more recently. Autueil's character saves a man's life and the would-be suicide turns around and ruins his. Autueil is usually great and the movie was praised by Premiere magazine as "brilliant, subtle and well-written."

Wanna see it for free before it opens? We have a ten passes, good for two people each. You have to be able to pick them up at MPR in downtown St. Paul on Tuesday or Wednesday because the screening is on Wednesday at the Lagoon. The U.S. Postal service wouldn't be able to get them to you on time. Interested? Tell us in the comments space below, and the all-powerful Julia Schrenkler will e-mail you and let you know if you scored a pair or not.

The movie starts at 7:30 on Wednesday, but the pass doesn't guarantee a seat so you may want to arrive early. Especially if it is 90 degrees and humid out. The place may fill up.

Are there still tickets available for Apres Vous? I'd happily walk over to pick up a pair!

Thanks,
Vanessa

I'd like to see it. Subtitles make me feel smart, as if I was a regular reader.
