Porketta or porchetta?

Your intrepid Minnesota Sounds and Voices reporter, that would be me, captured in the artful self portrait above, enjoying some road food.
I pulled off Minnesota state highway 23 recently to stop at the Duquette General Store where I purchased a homemade porketta sandwich.
I was on my way to Duluth and Superior to capture Sounds and Voices for reports you'll be hearing and reading soon.
There are many gustatory blessings in the Arrowhead region: pan broiled fresh cisco (lake herring) from Lake Superior, smoked fish of any kind.
And porketta.
Let's pause for a moment to express warm thoughts for the Italian immigrants who brought the recipes for the speciality meat to the USA and then northeastern Minnesota as they sought jobs in the mines and forests.
