Will Give to the Max make its goal?

While GiveMN has not set any dollar fundraising goals for today's "Give to the Max" event, it is seeking to break its previous record in terms of number of donors. Last year it heard from approximately 38,000 people - this year it's challenged the public to surpass 40,000 donors.

As of 4:30pm Central, it's heard from approximatley 27,500.

In order to meet the goal, GiveMN will need to hear from 1666 people an hour for the next seven and a half hours (here at MPR we're really familar with that kind of math).

As with any fundraising event, alot depends on how many people have saved making their contributions for the end of the day, and how much giving will slack off in the waning hours before midnight.

So, have you made your pledge yet? Are you going to? Why or why not?

I just as soon give directly to my organizations the old fashioned way and avoid the cc processing fee altogether. I admit, I don't understand why established organizations would want to use a middleman, unless they are riding a wave of philanthropic fever created by GiveMN.

As a representative of an organization, this is an incredible day, charged with the spirit of generosity among our donors and other supporters. While we have established systems in place, GiveMN provides an easy, clear donor experience--and is a great portal for the one-day giving concept. It can be a misconception that credit card processing fees cost more than sending physical checks. The automated processes of giving online can help organizations save a lot of staff time and money (depending on the size/staff/systems, of course).

As a donor, I definitely caught the philanthropic fever! I give directly to my favorite organizations online during most of the year, but Give to the Max Day makes it easy to find matching gifts at my favorite organizations all at once, and allows me to help them get closer to receiving some of the prize funds. I gave to three of them through GiveMN today.
