Something borrowed? Get the state debt deal in 3 minutes

Simplicity is a beautiful thing.

For all the complexity of state budget dealing, my MPR News colleagues Molly Bloom and Curtis Gilbert always find ways to cut through the noise. A few weeks ago they produced a great short video that helped us navigate the budget mess.

Today, they're helping us understand the borrowing gimmicks lawmakers plan to use to close the budget deal.

Check out their latest video below. In two minutes and 40 seconds you will get the debt deal.

BONUS: Here's the video Curtis and Molly produced a few weeks ago on the overall budget mess and how we got to this point.

Just speaking for myself here, but with regard to the Budget Deal feature, I find the music and the "crafts" distracting and unhelpful.

In response to Kit, I think it depends what type of learner you are. Some people can pick up the facts by simply listening or reading, and others find it very helpful to have visuals. Comments on some of these articles indicate that many people don't seem to be aware of the basic facts of the budget deal, even though they've been repeated over and over in the media. So, I welcome anything like this that can help educate more people.

Wouldn't it be easier, if Markie would just bring his family trust fund back to Minnesota, and donate it to the state treasury?

You know, since he's all about spending other people's money, and all!
