Two recently announced resignations of re-elected state representatives are now official.

Rep. Terry Morrow, DFL-St. Peter, and Rep. Steve Gottwalt, R-St. Cloud, delivered resignation letters today to Gov. Mark Dayton's office. That now clears the way for Dayton to call special elections in District 19A and 14A.

Morrow announced last month he was leaving after three terms in the Minnesota House to take a job in Chicago. Gottwalt announced last week that he too was leaving after three terms due to a new job.

The resignations mean the 2013 Legislative session will begin Tuesday with the DFL holding a 72-60 majority, pending the outcome of the two special elections.

Here's Morrow's letter.
