Supporters of voter ID are getting an assist from former Vikings Center Matt Birk.
Birk will headline a fundraiser June 28 at The Nook in St. Paul for Voter ID for MN, an organization that backs a constitutional amendment that would require voters to show identification at the polls.
The event is hosted by prominent Republican donors David and Sandy Frauenshuh, and Doug Seaton.
Birk, who played for the Vikings from 1998-2008, now plays for the Baltimore Ravens. He's a St. Paul native who graduated from Cretin-Derham Hall High School.
