Minnesota Congresswoman and 2012 GOP presidential contender Michele Bachmann has added tough national security talk to her stump speech since Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined the field of Republican presidential candidates. Her speech at the American Legion gives her a chance to build on that message.

Dianne Corbett of Nebraska is attending the convention in Minneapolis with her husband, who's a member of the American Legion. Corbett said she was looking forward to hearing Bachmann's speech. She said she has a lot of interest in Bachmann's presidential campaign.

"I like her direct approach to questions," said Corbett.

Since Perry got into the race, Bachmann's standing in most polls has plunged from second to a distant forth place. Corbett said that doesn't mean much at this stage of the contest. She thinks Bachmann is still very much in the race for the nomination.

"I think it's too early to put too much into the polls," said Corbett.

President Obama spoke at the legion's national convention Tuesday.

The gathering wraps up today.

Why is MPR's top story (judging by top placement on the website's front page) that Michele Bachmann is PLANNING a speech? It looks very much like when their top story several years ago would be "Tim Pawlent is planning to make an announcement in a couple days," and then the next day "Pawlenty's going to make an announcement tomorrow," and then the next day, the announcement would be no big deal. But it was their beloved Pawlenty!

Bachmann is making me ashamed to admit I live in MN - She's a walking disaster!

MB's comments = " In my administration, we'll triple the number of bases in other countries to improve protection of US business world-wide, while cutting the defense budget in half. We'll never let a war last more then 6 weeks and will pass a law requiring companies to give every returning vet - a full-time job at $60,000 per year. We'll kill every terrorist in the world in the first 100 days. We'll seal the borders against every illegal alien and then throw out every single one that is here in the first 200 days. And then, on the 700th day of the first year - I shall rest"
