Michele Bachmann's latest fundraising email may have raised a few eyebrows with a provocative subject line: "Seeking higher office."
Alas, it was a tease, of sorts, for both pundits and Bachmann's supporters. The email asks, "if you are satisfied with the current field of Republican presidential candidates" and contains a link to a one question "survey" with the same question.
It goes on to say, "If you want me to seek the Presidency, please make a donation of $50 or even $100 to let me know I can count on you." (italics added for emphasis).
Bachmann is a wizard at so-called "small dollar" donations of under $200, which don't have to be itemized for the Federal Election Commission.
In the first quarter of this year, Bachmann raised more than $1.7 million, of which nearly $1.3 million came in the form of small donations. By comparison, fellow Republican Erik Paulsen raised just $19,000 in small donations during the same period.
