Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Matt Entenza mocks Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty's travel in a new web video that was sent to supporters. In it, Entenza says "It's 10 o'clock, do you know where your governor is?"
He goes on to say that he wants to be "your governor" and adds he was elected president...
...of his college.
All of the DFL candidates for governor are openly criticizing Pawlenty in campaign videos, TV ads and during debates. It will be interesting to see whether the eventual DFL nominee keeps up the attack when he/she is talking to independent minded voters.
I suspect we will see this keep up in the main race. Nominal independents and independent minded partisans have allowed the last several governor's races to be decided by a minority.
Reminding independents of what happens when a bare plurality elects a governor is likely to be a useful tactic.
Especially this year when the IP candidates really look more like Republicans than they used to. I doubt that many Democratic voters will be inclined to vote IP, unlike in the past.
The notion of "Hey folks, if you don't vote for me, this is what could happen." requires some history. We've now got 8 years of it. And people have noticed this fact.
