The three DFL candidates for governor and Independence Party's endorsed candidate will participate in a forum on Friday. The Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers is hosting a forum that features Minnesota House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher (D), former U.S. Senator Mark Dayton (D), former legislator Matt Entenza (D) and I-P candidate Tom Horner.
The forum will be held at the Continuing Education and Conference Center on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota.
Meanwhile, the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics will also hold a forum on Friday night that features Kelliher, Entenza and Horner. That forum will focus on health care issues.
I wonder why there sre no other 3rd party candidates involved in these forums. Where is the Grassroots candidate Chris Wright? WHy does he not get invited to any of these so called forums? He qualified to be on the ballot and should be given equal opportunity to be involved in these forums.
The bigger question besides why other third party candidates are not involved is: Why is Tom Emmer never involved in these forums? I think I know the answer, that he is so extremely right wing that he knows he will only damage his campaign by revealing himself as such to social workers and pediatricians and other types of thoughtful people.
Just to let you know - Tom Emmer was invited but declined. Not everyone was invited because there was only 1 hour for the session. There was other press coverage at the event too.
I just think that every candidate should have the chance to debate issues. Every candidate should be invited to join. It just shows how 2 party Minnesota really is, even if they did invite one independent. THe candidates invited do not represent everyone. Make it fair, invite them all, as we can see, not all will attend, but the ones who want to will. THe Grassroots party turned in their petition signatures 5 days early, so the support is there. So why not include them? Ohh I know why... It is because they want to make cannabis legal and no one wants to have to touch that subject because they are scared to lose!
