St. Paul police chief running for senate seat

Posted at 1:10 PM on May 28, 2010 by Mike Mulcahy

Outgoing St. Paul Police Chief John Harrington is running for the state senate.

Harrington announced last year that he would not seek another term as chief. He's running as a DFLer for the St. Paul senate seat being vacated by Democrat Mee Moua.

Four other Democrats-- Tom Hilber, Vang T. Lor, Jim McGowan, and Avi Viswanathan -- have also filed for the seat and will compete in the DFL primary in August.

Harrington is due to leave the police force at the end of June.

Krysia Weidell has filed as a Republican for the seat.
