Officials with the gubernatorial campaign of Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak announced today that the Campaign Finance and Disclosure Board will not investigate a complaint by the Republican Party of Minnesota.
The state GOP filed a complaint last week accusing Rybak of spending $13,000 for a DFL voter file before he announced he was running for governor. Rybak's campaign manager, Tina Smith, sent out a news release and a letter from the board that said that "the factual allegations of the complaint are insufficient to state a violation. The Board will not commence an investigation of this complaint."
"This is a common sense result, and we are pleased we won't have to waste the time of the Campaign Finance and Disclosure Board, or our campaign, with this baseless complaint," Smith wrote.
Way to go!
