We reported earlier this week that DFL state Rep. Cy Thao would not seek a fifth term in the Minnesota House.

Thao declined comment when the Star Tribune asked him on Thursday about his political future. He said he'll announce his decision in April.

But he's apparently telling delegates in House District 65A. In a letter, Thao wrote in a letter to friends and supporters that he wanted them to "know first about my decision to not seek re-election":

"My priorities have always been with my family, my community and my business. At this stage in my life, and after nearly seven years of public service in Minnesota, it's time to return to my family and business interests..."

Here's the letter.
