The city of Minneapolis announced today that they will rehire 15 police officers on January 1, 2010. The city announced that it was laying off 25 cops today. In a news release, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said they are using federal stimulus money and internal funds to hire the 15 police officers.
Rybak, a Democrat running for governor, received heavy criticism from the Minneapolis Police Federation and the Minnesota Republican Party over the lay-offs.
