The DFL take...

DFL Party Chair Brian Melendez visited the GOP Convention after visiting the Twin Cities Marathon venue (Marathon registration is downstairs from the convention). I asked Melendez about the GOP straw poll and his thoughts on the candidates. Here's his response:

"There is not a single possible winner of this poll that I'm concerned about against the strong field that the DFL has. Whoever it is that comes out of here is going to have hung around their neck the millstone of Tim Pawlenty's two administrations and the budget deficit he is leaving the state. Up against that, it doesn't matter who wins. We'll take them on and we're going to restore some sanity to the government of Minnesota."

There are nine DFL candidates already running for governor.. The mayors or Minneapolis and St. Paul are also considering a run.

bla bla bla, bla bla bla bla. Bla bla bla.

He might have well said that. It would have had just as much substance.
