Minnesota's flag stamp

DFL Sen. Amy Klobuchar and DFL Sen. Al Franken will appear at the Minnesota State Capitol on Sunday for the unveiling of the state's flag stamp. The United States Postal Service announced the images of the fifty flag stamps in August but the official ceremony will be held in Minnesota on Sunday. Here's what the Minnesota stamp looks like:

The USPS gave this description of the stamp:

The flag design incorporates the state seal, state flower, state name, and important dates in state history. Snapshot art features a grain elevator on a riverbank with swans in the foreground.

Question of the day: Do you think the stamp represents Minnesota?

Get Marg's husband from "Fargo" to design it, then it will be authentic!

Swans and a grain elevator... That's seriously all we get?! I feel like just showing the state flag would be better.

Grain elevators are ok, I guess...though how about a pine tree, a river bluff, Split Rock Lighthouse maybe? We've got more iconic structures in this state.

But what really gets me is the swans. When's the last time you saw a swan in Minnesota? I'm sure there are some around, but wouldn't a loon have been just as easy? Maybe an eagle up in the sky?

This stamp might as well be Iowa or Indiana or North Dakota.

A grain elevator does not make me think of MN...I agree, just the flag would have been better

It's not the fault of the USPS that our state flag is so fugly. A "state seal on a bed sheet" is an apt description of it. Let's get something that actually looks nice.

get rid of the grain elevator! that is lame! we have many better things than that! boundary waters, winter, fall, state fair, our skylines, lakes....i mean seriously, a grain elevator?!?!?!?!

How completely un-Minnesotan! Of course the state stamp should depict a casserole and a duck.
