A bipartisan group of candidates for governor will discuss higher education issues Wednesday at an event in Anoka.

Five Democrats and four Republicans are expected to participate in a gubernatorial panel beginning at 10:30 a.m., as part of a symposium at Anoka Technical College. The theme of the symposium is Career Pathways for Adult Learners. Organizers say the DFLers are Susan Gaertner, Steve Kelley, John Marty, Tom Rukavina, and Paul Thissen. On the GOP side, Pat Anderson, Tom Emmer Mike Jungbauer and Marty Seifert will attend.

Sounds interesting. Hopefully they'll avoid some of the simplistic "higher education = good job" rhetoric that flies around in politics, now that there are a whole bunch of unemployed people with college degrees out there.
