Federal Highway Administrator Victor Mendez will be in Minnesota today to break ground for a Highway 610 extension.

The U.S. Postal Service has backed off plans to close some Minnesota offices.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Sen. Al Franken are hearing a lot about health care at the Minnesota State Fair.

Franken says the fair is the best place to get a feel for what Minnesota is thinking about.

Congressman Tim Walz plans to hold a health care forum in Rochester Sept. 12.

Congressman John Kline isn't holding a town hall meeting on health care because he says he doesn't want to be the source of a protest.

Pawlenty is campaigning for Christie today in New Jersey

Gov. Tim Pawlenty is in New Jersey today, campaigning for that state's GOP gubernatorial candidate, Chris Christie.

CNN reports Pawlenty will join Christie on the campaign trail at a meet and greet with volunteers in Bergen County, New Jersey. Christie, a former U.S. attorney for New Jersey, is trying to unseat Democratic incumbent Jon Corzine in November.

Minnesota's governor is not seeking a third term in 2010, but he'll be spending time helping other GOP candidates for governor across the country in his role as vice chairman of the Republican Governors Association.


GOP candidates will meet at State Fair

Officials with the Republican Party of Minnesota announced today that they will host a gubernatorial candidate forum Monday afternoon at their State Fair booth.

The event is scheduled to run from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., at 1702 Carnes Ave.

The seven GOP candidates for governor who will participate are Pat Anderson, Tom Emmer, David Hann, Phil Herwig, Mike Jungbauer, Paul Kohls and Marty Seifert.
