Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner, a DFL candidate for governor, has hired a communications director for her 2010 campaign.

The Gaertner for Governor team announced today the addition of Kate Monson, who served as communications director for the 2008 congressional campaign of Elwyn Tinklenberg in Minnesota's 6th district. Her new duties include campaign spokesperson. Monson is a graduate of St. Olaf College and United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.

I was going to say "it's about time." All we've been hearing about on MPR for the last month is about Pawlenty not running (and Pawlenty's every breath, of course), and all the Republicans lining up to fill the spot (with an incidental mention at the ends of stories that, oh yeah, there are 10 people running for the DFL slot, too.

That's what I was going to say. But knowing how Democrats are marketing-averse compared with Republicans all-marketing-all-the-time approach to their campaigns, it probably won't make much of a difference. Especially with MPR, who eats out of Pawlenty's marketing machine's hand.
