A candidate having a bad day

Tom Scheck is on paternity leave, which apparently gives him more time to watch videos on YouTube. He sent me this one. We can only hope this doesn't become the trend during campaign 2010.

It seems everyone on blogs and other on-line media feel empowered to say almost anything because for the most part they do not have to stand behind their words.

This is just another example of such anonymous "free speech" behavior. All too often it drags down the level of real communications or, as in this case, derails it entirely.

Anonymity and the use of "handles" should be discouraged in electronic media as it has been in print media.

As long as this sort of behavior is tolerated in other areas of (electronic) public discourse, scenes such as this are likely to be repeated.

This is just the logical progression of political discourse in the country. Every political story often features the good guy vs. the bad guy. Nuance is dead. Depth is dead.

And this is where we end up at.

Haven't you heard that these angry mob scenes are being organized by right-wingers all over the country? It's just a new tactic they're using in their usual efforts to stop the dissemination of the TRUTH about any issue they don't support.
