A new request for campaign contributions from Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., says that she needs help to prove to Democrats that she is not an extremist.
In an e-mail to supporters, Bachmann accuses the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee of "gunning" for her with a new web site.
Here's an excerpt from the Bachmann letter:
"It's the Democrat (sic) Congressional Campaign Committee's (DCCC) latest attempt to discredit every word out of my mouth and to paint anyone who disagrees with the liberal agenda sweeping through Washington as an extremist. If you get a chance, check it out. It's incredible how fast and loose they are willing to play with the truth. We thought we saw the height of their spin machine last October, but, really, it looks like this is just the beginning."
Bachmann asks for a contribution to help her keep fighting. She also asks supporters to share the e-mail with five friends.
"The Democrats are gunning for me because I refuse to shrink from a fight. With your help, I can keep fighting for your freedom, for your pocketbook, and for all that the Constitution has secured for the American people for generations."
Fast and loose with the truth?
Come on, Michele! In the last few weeks you've been consistently nailed for telling lies. Not just making mistakes, but telling lies.
Your latest little "mistake" about swine flu was beneath even you. Trying to smear our President with something like that. Tacky, tacky, tacky.
The media need to record and report on every word that you say and then point out every time you play fast and loose with the truth.
I can't wait to see the TV ads that the democrats will run. It'll be great to hear your insane rantings coming back to haunt you.
And just who is the one trying to turn an international health crisis into a politically motivated talking point? Ms. Bachmann, the Dems aren't trying to smear you...you are doing a good enough job cutting yourself down. As an independent, I find such partisan ploys distasteful and confounding, esp. when your talking points are uneducated at best.
Trust me, you may be fighting for Republican votes of Minnesota, but you are surely NOT fighting for the good of the American people.
If only the light would shine on everything the current president has said since his campaign began through the present as the DCCC is doing with Rep. Bachmann, instead of the liberal filter too many Americans are fed.
I really feel sorry for Minnesota. Most people here in Northern Virginia view the state as progressive and politically honest.
Having said that, Congressperson Bachmann is the exception to that rule. We never know what absurdity is going to come from her! She is considered one of the most extreme and eccentric right wing fanatics in the Congress today. Her tactics are pure "Eugene McCarthy" from the "red scare" days of the Republican Party. She is the Rush Limbaugh of Congress.
While I disagree with your governor, I believe that he is an intelligent and competant politician. Bachmann is just an embarassment for all the people of Minnesota.
Many liberals hope that she remains in office because she is a fine example of why the Republican party has no answers for America's political questions. This person hurts every other Republican office seeker with her inane and paranoid statements.
Ms. Bachmann makes Norm "I will litigate the election for 6 years" Coleman look like a Philosopher King in comparison.
