Gov. Pawlenty just announced that he's appointing Dave Metzen to head the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. Metzen served on the Board of Regents at the University of Minnesota and was Chair of the Board of Regents from 2003-05. He also served as superintendent of the South St. Paul School District.
Metzen is the brother of Minnesota Senate President Jim Metzen.
Pawlent appointed Metzen even though two members of the Minnesota Senate urged him to keep the post unfilled to save money.
