Posted at 12:47 PM on January 30, 2009 by Tim Pugmire

The Minnesota Senate passed a resolution Thursday setting committee deadlines for the 2009 session. The House is expected to do the same next week.

The first deadline, for committees to act favorably on policy bills in the house of origin, is March 27, 8:00 p.m. The deadline for companion bills from the oppisite body is midnight on April 7.

House and Senate finance committees have until April 16 to approve omnibus appropriation bills. The committees on finance, ways and means and taxes must act favorably on omnibus bills by April 22. The fifth deadline, for conference committees on omnibus appropriation and tax bills to report bills to the floor, is May 7.

Legislators will squeeze in an Easter/Passover break April 8-14. They must complete their work by May 18.
