1,500 to go (or so)...

Posted at 7:26 PM on December 14, 2008 by Tom Scheck

After getting a verbal beat down from the State Canvassing Board on Friday, the two U.S. Senate campaigns are withdrawing challenges at a fevered pitch. Democrat Al Franken's campaign says the campaign will present the board with fewer than 500 challenges when the board meets on Tuesday. GOP Sen. Norm Coleman's campaign later announced that they'll present the board with fewer than 1,000 challenges.

The Associated Press reviewed all of the challenges and found that very few will vex the Canvassing Board.

What could be more vexing is what happens with the Minnesota Supreme Court. The Coleman campaign is requesting the court to stop the counting of wrongly rejected absentee ballots until some uniform standards are in place. Franken's camp is crying foul. They argue Coleman's team is trying to run out the clock.

Your guess is as good as mine as to who wins this thing when it's all said and done...
