Barack Obama's wife, Michelle Obama, will campaign in Rochester and St. Paul today.

Todd Palin, the husband of GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin, will visit northern Minnesota later this week.

Global markets jump today on new capital reassurances.

Democrat Barack Obama will speak about his economic plan today.

A McCain supporter said on Sunday's talk shows that McCain will also lay out tax plans in the next few days The New York Times says there won't be any new plans but a new speech. The speech will apparently focus on how he's the underdog, something he's been saying for months.

2008 Race for Senate

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman will appear on Midday at 11 this morning.

The candidates debated the issues on Saturday night. MPR, the Pi Press, the Star Tribune and AP have stories.

The Star Tribune profiles GOP Sen. Norm Coleman. The Pi Press has a similar profile this morning but it's not on the website yet. I'll post when it is. Must have needed some coffee this morning. The Star Tribune did a two part look at Coleman. Here's the other story. Apologies.

GOP Rep. John Kline and DFL challenger Steve Sarvi will meet in a debate this morning. The Pi Press has a profile of the race.

Kline hit the airwaves this week with a Stop the Pork ad.

DFL Rep. Betty McCollum and Republican challenger Ed Matthews will debate the issues tonight.

DFL Rep. Jim Oberstar campaigned in St. Cloud for DFLer Elwyn Tinklenberg. Oberstar criticized GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann's voting record.

The New York Times says Republican leaders are worried they can lose at least ten seats.

2008 Race for Legislature

Gov. Pawlenty will continue to campaign for Minnesota House members today. He'll fly around the state today with GOP Rep. Marty Seifert.

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman will appear on MPR's Midday this morning at 11 AM.

I-P candidate Dean Barkley was on the show on Friday. DFLer Al Franken will be on the show on Tuesday.

2nd District debate

GOP Rep. John Kline and DFL challenger Steve Sarvi debated the issues this afternoon at the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska.

Kline and Sarvi are running in Minnesota's 2nd Congressional District, which includes some eastern Twin Cities suburbs, the southern Twin Cities suburbs and stretches into communities like Faribault. The debate was sponsored by The Greater Carver Country Chambers of Commerce. You can listen to it here.

Michelle Obama speech

Michelle Obama campaigned in Rochester and St. Paul today. Campaign officials say she will also be holding a fundraiser tonight at the Minneapolis Club.

Mrs. Obama told an audience of about 4,500 people in St. Paul that her husband "Gets it" when it comes to the economy. You can listen to her speech here.

Politico: RNC seeks $5 million bailout for GOP Senators

Minnesota's Senate race is mentioned in the story. Meanwhile, GOP Sen. Norm Coleman announced that he will start a bus tour of the state called "The Hope Express" tour. The first stop is Red Wing on Tuesday night. Wednesday stops are in Red Wing, Lake City, Winona and Rochester.

Rothenberg moves 3rd to toss up/tilts Democratic

Stu Rothenberg has moved his ranking of Minnesota's 3rd Congressional District from toss-up to toss up/tilts Democratic. The race to replace GOP Rep. Jim Ramstad features DFLer Ashwin Madia, Republican Erik Paulsen and I-P candidate David Dillon.
