The Wisconsin Advertising Project found that Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama spent $15 million on TV ads since the Republican National Convention. The study found that more than half of Republican John McCain's ads are in conjunction with the RNC. The study also found that Obama's ads are taking a more negative tone.
The most interesting aspect of the study is that McCain spent nearly a half a million dollars on ads in Minnesota. Obama spent just $18,000 in Minnesota. Obama's ads ran in the Rochester market which could be an effort to target both Minnesota and northern Iowa.
Four interest groups have also gotten into the fray since September 4th. The conservative leaning Veterans for Freedom is the only group to spent money in Minnesota. They spent $9,000 in Minnesota.
Note: I could not find a link to the study. I'll post it when I find one. Here's the report.
It would seem that Obama is repeating the strategy he used against Clinton, making his opponent spend money on ads while he builds his "ground game" of staff and volunteers to challenge McCain even in usually red states like Montana.
Then, as the election draws near, a flurry of television ads and large rallies. The addition of Palen has drawn larger crowds (for now) to McCain events, it will be interesting to see how many attend Friday's hangerstop in Blaine.
I think the Bradley effect may show up in Minnesota. McCain can win with taking MN and OH. OH has to be won by McCain. Only other way would be to take MN,NV,CO,NM
But OH and MN could do the trick.
That Hockey Mom stuff might play in MN.
Please Minnesota vote McCain so I can take your money
Vote McCain for higher taxes on the middle class, higher health care premiums, and higher gas prices. Me and my Oil Company buddies only made $1 trillion dollars in profits. McCain's tax cuts for the "rich" making over $5 million a year will help us buy a small island to vacation on this winter.
Meanwhile thanks for spending your tax dollars to help fund the war in Iraq and make my defense contractor buddies rich beyond belief and thanks for helping bail out our Wall Street buddies this past week. It was much appreciated, in fact the GOP always appreciates your help to "privatize our profits" and "socialize our risk" on the backs of you the taxpayer. We will send you a T-shirt after we win the election.
