For Minnesota Democrats, it's a historic night featuring Barack Obama. For Minnesota Republicans, it could be a historic night if John McCain picks Gov. Pawlenty as his running mate. The Digest is brief today but nothing else should matter in your political universe.

Here we go...

Barack Obama accepts his party's nomination to be president of the United States. He's the first African American to win a major party nomination for president. The New York Times has a profile of Pawlenty.

From King to Obama, the dream comes full circle for some African Americans.

Obama's running mate, Joe Biden, says the nation needs more than a good soldier.

Minnesota delegates like Biden as a running mate.

The delegates also say they'll rally around Obama.

Pawlenty for VP Watch

Gov. Pawlenty is in Denver to counter the DNC. Will he be in Ohio tomorrow? Pawlenty says he's scheduled to be in Minnesota on Friday and Saturday.
