VP talk leads the Digest.

The New York Times is reporting that Democrat Barack Obama has settled on his VP pick. The problem is we still don't know who it is.

The paper also says DNC delegates support Hillary for VP.

The National Review says John McCain is asking state GOP officials about the prospects of a pro-choice VP.

Gov. Pawlenty has two events on his official calendar. He campaigned in Wisconsin on Monday. He ripped Democrat Barack Obama on energy. MPR and AP have stories.

He declined to talk about the VP stuff in Milwaukee.

Pawlenty also made a brief appearance on CNN's Larry King Live. I can't find the video. I'll link to it if I find it.

Politico says Republican John McCain is planning a birthday bash in which he'll announce his VP. Will Pawlenty be invited?

2008 Race for President

Survey USA has a poll out saying Obama has a two point lead over McCain in Minnesota. KSTP has a story on the poll.

Obama hits back on McCain's critique of Obama's patriotism during his speech at the VFW convention. McCain ripped Obama on the surge on Monday.

McCain will appear on the Tonight Show on the first night of the DNC.

CNN is wondering whether McCain is finding his comfort zone on faith.

2008 Race for Senate

GOP Sen. Norm Coleman said he wouldn't attend the RNC if it weren't in St. Paul.

Coleman also talked energy during stops in Bemidji and East Grand Forks.

He will also attend an economic forum on August 25th.

2008 Race for Congress

ECM says GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann and DFL challenger Elwyn Tinklenberg agree not to touch the strategic petroleum reserve.

State Government
